If you’re looking for somewhere new and interesting to shop in London, then Coal Drops Yard in King's Cross is where it’s at. Post (mid?) Pandemic independent shops still really need our pounds! Remember last summer when we all felt a responsibility to the local stores we rely on? With kerbside pickups and all of that! It was an interesting time which completely altered many businesses' shape and way of selling as they implemented creative and expensive solutions to serve their customers and keep them safe.
At Coal Drops Yard, us retailers had a rough old ride with all the closings and re-openings. But footfall is increasing as people are getting more and more sociable again. Granary Square is a hot spot for Al Fresco meet ups. The Everyman cinema steps are busy and people are enjoying all the outdoor options for eating and drinking.

In Coal Drops Yard, there are tables and chairs for the public to picnic on and it is a joy to see the students at Central Saint Martins drifting about again. From King’s Cross International, all the way up to Lewis Cubitt Square there are so many nice places to eat and drink. With plenty of outdoor tables and space giving the feeling that your journey through the King’s Cross estate has been well planned. Our pick of the week is Cafe Bao. We're obsessed with their decor as well as their buns.
Coal Drops Yard is a refreshing take on the shopping centre and a different sort of high street. Because there are no cars, there is a great calmness about the place. You can explore and see some seriously stunning architecture and finishes. But also have a mooch in the shops and get some decent food. You can end up spending a fortune because it’s just a relaxed place to be. 
In Coal Drops Yard, there’s some great independent retailers and there’s a monthly makers market called The Drops in the middle (outside the Beija London shop) which is really good. The next one is 1-3 October. We are all working so hard for King’s Cross to be thought of as a great place to go shopping and discover interesting brands. London is lucky to have plenty of shopping ‘districts’ from Stratford to Portobello, but Coal Drops Yard is ripe for a visit. Come, bring your friends and try on some Beija bras.
